Cardiac Rehab Foundation is a pioneering non-profit organisation dedicated to transforming heart health in India. Established in 2022, it offers physician supervised, exercise based rehab for heart attack survivors and heart failure patients.

Vision of Foundation

To make India a global leader in reducing Young and Early Heart attacks.

Mission of Foundation

Cardiac Rehab: To prevent premature death among heart attack survivors by providing structured Physician supervised cardiac rehab.

Cardiac Wellness: To prevent young and early heart attacks for high-risk individuals through comprehensive programs.

Why Cardiac Rehab Matters

Heart attacks have become a public health emergency, not only globally, but even more severely in India

Too Many Heart Attacks (#1 Leading Cause of Death Worldwide)

Heart attacks and cardiovascular diseases kill more people than any other condition.

  • Globally (2021)About 56,000 deaths every day — about 20.5 million deaths in the year (World Heart Federation, World Heart Report 2023)
  • India (2021)About 7,900 deaths every day — about 2.9 million deaths in the year (Global Burden of Disease 2021 study, Cureus 2024)

What is even more alarming is the steep rise in young and early heart attacks. Despite advanced treatments like angioplasty and bypass surgery, recurrent heart attacks and premature deaths remain very common.

The Human Cost

This epidemic results in:

  • Young deaths in their 30s, 40s, and 50s
  • Premature deaths despite treatment
  • Heart attack survivors living with poor quality of life — breathlessness, fatigue, fear, and disability
  • Devastating financial and emotional consequences for families who lose their breadwinner or live with long-term illness

The Core Problem: No Focus on Primary and Secondary Prevention

Heart disease is the #1 killer in India and worldwide. Yet prevention gets very little focus.

After a Heart Attack — Poor Secondary Prevention

  • Patients are discharged without Cardiac Rehab
  • There is no supervised recovery program
  • No structured lifestyle modification to prevent recurrence
  • No monitoring to prevent heart failure or complications

This leads to repeat procedures, avoidable complications, and early death.

The Missing Link: Cardiac Rehab

Cardiac Rehab is given the highest grade, Class I (Level A), by the AHA and ESC: a recommended therapy proven to reduce deaths, improve heart function, and prevent repeat heart attacks.

Why

  • No Rehabilitation Medicine Departments in most medical colleges in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and many other states
  • Lack of awareness among cardiologists and cardiac surgeons
  • No referral pathways to cardiac rehab
  • No availability of structured, physician-supervised rehab programs

The result

The absence of cardiac rehab leads to:

  • Higher premature deaths
  • Repeat angioplasties and bypass surgeries
  • High medical expenses for complications
  • Low quality of life for survivors
  • Long-term disability and fear
  • Financial, emotional, and social burden on families

Globally, cardiac rehab is underutilized. In India, it is practically zero — despite being life‑saving.

Heart Failure – A Life-Threatening Condition

  • Reduced exercise capacity
  • Swelling, tiredness, breathlessness
  • Repeated hospitalisations
  • Poor quality of life
  • Emotional distress
  • Early death if not managed scientifically

The Impact of Cardiac Rehab

  • Improve heart function
  • 35% fewer hospital admissions and 28% fewer heart attacks (Cochrane review, 2026)
  • Enhance physical strength and stamina
  • Boost mental well-being
  • Restore confidence and independence
  • Prevent further heart attacks
  • Extend life expectancy

European heart guidelines (ESC 2020) say people with heart disease may start gentle to moderate recreational sport, alongside a supervised exercise programme, after an exercise test.

Cost of Cardiac Rehab for a Heart Failure Patient

One heart failure patient, 6 months, 100 hours₹3,18,000

You can give the full amount for one patient, or any part of it. Every part brings a patient closer to a full programme.

This includes:

  • Physician supervision
  • Exercise sessions
  • Monitoring with advanced medical equipment
  • Diet & lifestyle counselling
  • Personalized rehab planning
  • Psychological support
  • Risk factor reversal
  • Follow-up reviews

Your support can save a life, help a breadwinner return to work, and protect an entire family from financial and emotional distress.
